Ethereum Foundation grades 62 Hegotá EIPs and sets quantum-resistant L1 goal for 2029
The Ethereum Foundation’s Protocol Cluster published an assessment and roadmap for the Hegotá upgrade, grading 62 proposed Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) and outlining research priorities through 2029, with a target of quantum resistance across Ethereum L1’s execution, consensus, and data layers by December 2029 [1].
In the grading results, EIP-7805 (FOCIL, an anti-censorship proposal) and EIP-8141 (Frame Transactions, a core account abstraction proposal) were placed in the S tier as “must ship,” while 15 proposals were rated A tier as “expected to ship” and 28 proposals were rejected [1].
Crypto.news reported that the Ethereum Foundation collected 397 assessments from about 60 protocol specialists across nine teams when producing the ratings for the 62 Hegotá proposals [2].
Cryptopolitan reported that it was the first time the Protocol Cluster presented a single unified graded ranking of all 62 Hegotá EIPs as a reference point for features that would be locked in versus those on the chopping block [3].
Bitcoin Sistemi described the Protocol Cluster’s publication as “Hegotá EIP Opinion Compilation and Rating List,” and said it assessed and rated 62 EIPs for the upgrade planned to follow Glamsterdam, involving approximately 60 researchers, engineers, and domain experts from nine teams [4].
