BNY and Circle expand institutional USDC custody with minting and redemption access
Bank of New York Mellon (BNY) said it has expanded its partnership with Circle to add full USDC lifecycle services to its Digital Asset Custody platform for institutional clients, enabling custody, transfers, minting, and redemption of USDC through BNY [1] [2].
BNY also described USDC as the first stablecoin supported on its institutional custody platform, with the integration allowing clients to mint and burn USDC directly from custody. Circle framed the move as an extension of their longstanding relationship, positioning USDC enablement within traditional financial custody infrastructure [3] [4].
The expansion makes USDC the first stablecoin available on BNY’s institutional digital asset custody platform, with clients able to manage key token lifecycle functions via BNY under the Circle partnership [1] [2].
