Aave launches risk optimization, phasing out idle reserves and shutting several chain deployments
Aave is initiating a protocol-wide optimization and risk-reduction effort that includes gradually phasing out low-utilization reserve assets. Aave founder Stani Kulechov said the platform will wind down reserve assets that are not seeing sufficient usage, including plans to end support for 50 low-adoption asset reserves on its own network [1] [2].
The restructuring also involves shutting down Aave deployments across multiple blockchain networks. Reports say Aave will wind down operations on Sonic, Scroll, zkSync, Metis, Soneium, and Aptos, alongside retiring matured Pendle principal tokens; the changes are reported to affect about $98.1 million in supplied assets and $15.6 million in debt [2] [3].
Separately, coverage tied to the announcement said AAVE was attempting to move toward a $100 price milestone following the optimization update [4].
