AI Kimi K3 scan flags 7,958 security issues across 500+ Bitcoin projects
A Bitcoin-focused “Red Team” has reported results from an AI-assisted security audit using Kimi K3, saying the scan examined 501 Bitcoin-related projects and logged 7,958 potential security issues. The reports describe the testing as taking place over 108 hours, with maintainers expected to validate and patch the flagged findings [1] [2] [3].
According to the same audit coverage, 1,280 of the issues were rated as critical or high severity, and at least one project—BTCPay Server—was reported to have already addressed a critical flaw identified by the team, including a two-factor authentication vulnerability. Multiple outlets characterized the effort as “nearly 8,000” vulnerabilities and attributed the scanning primarily to Kimi K3, an AI model developed by China’s Moonshot AI [4] [3].
The Red Team says maintainers are now working through the reported findings, after the AI scan produced thousands of potential issues across hundreds of Bitcoin projects [1] [3].
