U.S. Transfers About $103M in BTC and BNB to Coinbase; Separately, $23M in Bitfinex-Linked BTC
Wallets linked to the U.S. government moved 833.6 BTC, worth about $71.56 million, to Coinbase Prime on October 7, alongside 40,285 BNB valued at about $31.63 million. The BNB moved through multiple addresses, with one report tracing it to a wallet holding FTX-Alameda seized funds [1] [2] [3].
The Coinbase Prime transfer does not establish that the Bitcoin was sold, and no federal agency had announced a sale connected to the transfers, according to the reports [1] [4].
Separately, federal authorities transferred 264.863 BTC, worth about $23 million, to Coinbase on October 6. The Bitcoin was tied to the 2016 Bitfinex hack and was transferred as part of a court-ordered restitution plan, rather than a liquidation, Blockonomi reported [5] [6].
