Buterin outlines Ethereum’s shift toward cryptographic proofs and distributed offchain computation
Vitalik Buterin said Ethereum could evolve beyond a conventional blockchain into a “cryptographic world computer,” relying more on cryptographic proofs and distributed offchain work so nodes do not have to repeat the same computations [1] [2] [3].
He described upgrades including SNARK-based verification, PeerDAS, parallel computation, stronger privacy and changes to proof-of-stake. Buterin said Hegota, planned for next year, may be the last “normal” fork recognizable to someone from 2015; later development could focus on recursive STARKs, automated formal verification and quantum safety. Other coverage also cited STARKs and Lean consensus in his post-Hegota outlook [1] [4].
