UK FCA seeks input on DeFi authorization, risk management and scope of 2027 crypto rules
The UK Financial Conduct Authority opened consultations on proposed guidance for decentralized finance, including when DeFi interfaces may require authorization, and on the scope of new crypto rules. A separate paper addresses how regulated firms should manage DeFi risks; both consultations close on Nov. 18 [1] [2].
The FCA’s CP26/36 consultation proposes guidance on exclusions for settlement, stablecoin handling and certain technical crypto services. The consultations come ahead of the UK’s planned 2027 crypto regulatory regime, and weeks after the FCA opened applications for companies under that regime [3] [4] [2].
