BNB Chain activates Pasteur hard fork on mainnet to address bridge and validator security

BNB Chain activated the Pasteur hard fork on BSC mainnet on Aug. 25, with reporting describing the upgrade as targeting gaps in bridge and validator security and also including a fuller block-building route ^{[1] [2]}.

Yellow reported that Pasteur went live on BNB Smart Chain at 02:30 UTC on Aug. 25, bundling three proposals under the BEP-673 package, including BEP-682 (duplicate validator entries in bridge checks) and BEP-695 (authority removed from rotated validator keys) ^[3].

Yellow also stated that internal testing increased throughput from 1,237 to 2,324 transactions per second while not slowing blocks, and that the testnet throughput rose by 88% ^[3].
