OneKey founder says unpatchable chip flaws could expose wallet seed phrases on older iPhones
OneKey founder Yishi Wang warned that hardware vulnerabilities in older iPhones could put crypto wallet seed phrases at risk if an attacker gains physical access to a device. The warning concerns flaws that cannot be fixed through software updates, according to reports [1] [2] [3].
A report said the affected models include the iPhone XS, XR and 11 series, as well as the second-generation iPhone SE, and described an attack using DFU mode and a custom USB tool to run code before the operating system starts. It said airplane mode and factory resets would not prevent the attack [4].
