Zcash activates NU7 on testnet, cutting target blocks to 25 seconds before planned November mainnet launch
Zcash’s NU7 upgrade activated on public testnet at block height 4,465,026, reducing the target block time from 75 seconds to 25 seconds. CoinDesk reported the activation came ahead of schedule [1] [2] [3] [4].
The testnet rollout gives wallets, exchanges and developers time to check compatibility before a planned November mainnet launch. Faster blocks can shorten the wait for an initial confirmation, but do not make settlement instant [1] [4].
