OpenAI delays IPO and model release amid safety reviews, seeks $30B at $1.4T valuation and launches Dots
OpenAI will delay going public until it can make what CEO Sam Altman described as confident safety decisions, Ars Technica reported. Altman said the company would prioritize safety as AI capabilities advance, rather than rush toward an IPO [1].
OpenAI is seeking $30 billion in new funding amid the IPO delay, according to Crypto Briefing. Cointribune also reported that the company is targeting a $1.4 trillion valuation [2] [3].
OpenAI also presented its Dots AI assistant and postponed releasing a new model after safety concerns emerged in internal evaluations, Blockonomi reported; MoneyCheck likewise reported the model postponement over safety issues [4] [5].
