MetaMask Exits Lido Validators After Infrastructure Incident, Reports No Immediate Wallet Threat
MetaMask is responding to a security incident affecting part of its infrastructure and says it has found no immediate threat to MetaMask wallets. As a precaution, it is exiting affected validators in its non-custodial staking operation, in coordination with clients and partners [1] [2].
Reports identify the validators as positions in the Lido protocol. MetaMask’s staking operation is non-custodial, and the company says it does not hold clients’ withdrawal keys. Phemex reported that completion of the validator exits was expected by October 7, 2026, and that stETH holders did not need to take action [1] [3] [4] [5].
