Mercado Bitcoin suspends deposits and withdrawals after cyberattack; Hypernative flags over $40M in transfers
Mercado Bitcoin confirmed on Nov. 2 that one of its systems suffered a cyberattack and said it quickly contained the incident. The Brazilian exchange temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals as a precaution, and said customers had not suffered losses and no customer data had been leaked [1] [2].
Hypernative’s preliminary analysis identified more than $40 million in suspicious transfers across at least 10 blockchains, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and Tron; the estimated losses have not been confirmed. The Defiant reported that the exchange had identified wallets linked to the incident, while Phemex reported those wallets received 106.07 BTC and 2,852.07 ETH [1] [3] [4].
