HSBC Begins PayMe Rollout of Hong Kong Dollar RedCoin for Transfers and Merchant Payments
HSBC began a phased rollout of RedCoin, its Hong Kong dollar stablecoin, through its PayMe app on October 23. PayMe has about 3.3 million users, and RedCoin is intended for person-to-person transfers and merchant payments [1] [2] [3].
Users can activate a RedCoin wallet in PayMe; HSBC said wallet access would become available over the following few days. One report said the rollout enables payments at more than 100,000 merchants [1] [4].
