South Korea restricts 27 unregistered exchange sites, with users potentially facing withdrawal difficulties
South Korea’s Financial Intelligence Unit said the country’s communications authority ordered domestic access restrictions on 27 unregistered overseas crypto exchange websites, including KuCoin, MEXC, Phemex, BingX and BitMart [1] [2] [3].
The website restrictions add to existing measures targeting app downloads and updates. The FIU has referred 44 unregistered virtual asset service providers to investigative authorities and plans to seek further blocks, according to Wu Blockchain [1].
Authorities have acknowledged that customers of the affected exchanges could have difficulty withdrawing assets [4].
